Was the Yorkshire representative on the Westminster Assembly of Divines. He was known by his parishioners as ‘burnt–roast’ because of the length of his sermons! Buried at Cherry Burton 3 Nov 1663. He died intestate and a widower. On 22 Dec 1663 administration of his effects was given to his son Dr Sir John Micklethwait of the parish of St Botolph extra Aldersgate, London.
