Thomas Westmorland; Vicar of St James’ Chapelthorpe, Yorkshire for 30 years. The oak pulpit was given to the church by his widow in memory of her husband’s long service to the church and community. The Church was rebuilt in 1951/2 after a fire which destroyed everything including the pulpit. The new pulpit was designed to match the old one. A memorial on the north wall of the nave at St Helen’s Church, Sandal refers. There is no area for burials at Chapplethorpe, so burials are undertaken at the mother church of St Helen’s in Sandal Magna. Her son Alexander Richard Micklethwait Brenan was born in Ramsgate, Kent in 1875. Alexander’s son was christened John Patrick Micklethwait Brenan. He was born in 1917 and went on to become President of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.
